Leak Problem- Instructions On How To Seal The Kitchen Sink :

The sink is one of the points of property most susceptible to pipe clogging. This is because it is one of the most used direct connections to the plumbing. Also, sinks receive a large amount of waste that can cause clogging. With this, it is important always to be aware of ways to unblock the sink or find an expert.

Locate the leak source by closing the drain cover and filling the sink with water. Look for and feel under the sink in the pipes and the filter. Release the sink or let the water drain out once you have located the leak.

Tighten the sliding nuts on the drain pipes if the leak is in the drain pipe. Turn the nuts clockwise with pliers. The nuts look like collars in which two tubes meet. Fill in the sink to verify that the leak has been repaired.

Remove and replace the filter gaskets and washers if any leaks are found around the sink drain opening. Locate the nuts on both ends of the pipe directly below the drain, called the tailpiece. Loosen these nuts with pliers and disconnect and remove the cap.

Locate the part of the retaining nut on the filter assembly. The nut is a collar almost directly below the sink with evenly spaced protrusions. Loosen the retaining nut with a wrench. If the nut sticks out, hit the protrusions with a hammer to loosen it. Remove the friction ring and the rubber gasket between the nut and the sink.

Pull the filter out of the drain hole and into the sink. If it sticks, slide a spatula under the edge of the filter.

Scrape old mass from the recess around the drain opening and the bottom of the filter flange inside this channel.

Put fresh plumber’s bitumen on the flap around the drain opening. Place the filter back in the opening and press the edges on the putty mass.

Place a replacement gasket around the filter under the sink, followed by the friction ring. Tighten the retaining nut in place. Remove the washer from the top of the cap tube and install a replacement washer. Move the cap into position and tighten the sliding nuts on each end. Allow the plaster bitumen to cure according to the package’s instructions before allowing the water to drain into the sink. This tips will help you give yourself a quality service.
